The great thing about walking in my city, my favorite city - San Francisco - is that on every walk I am making new discoveries all the time.
One day I walk down the flat Embarcadero, seeing what ships are docked, on down through Fisherman's Wharf, through the Marina Green to the Golden Gate Bridge. Another day I walk up Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower and enjoy the City and Bay views.
Then yet again on another day, I walk through Chinatown and North Beach, passing great restaurants with tempting cuisine along the way. Other times I walk in the Mission District with its great Mexican and Latin restaurants, trying my best to finish my walk before yielding to temptations of burritos, chile relleno, and other great tasting food.
I have discovered many things on my walks.
I found a great Italian restaurant in North Beach, a small family owned restaurant that makes everything homemade, from fresh baked Italian bread to pastas and great soups. I listen to the old timers tell me that Joe Dimaggio, the great baseball player used to eat there.
I found the house in the Marina, where Joe and Marilyn Monroe lived. In Pacific Heights, I found out that the great scenes from the Steve McQueen Bullitt were filmed on the Broderick Street hill that goes down to Lombard Street.
I have discovered many fine little stores in Chinatown and North Beach, where I can always find something unique to buy as gifts for friends and family.
So in summation, every day is discovery day in a great city like San Francisco!
