After years of pain from arthritis in my knees, I made the surprising discovery of being able to walk free from pain. We decided to walk around the beautiful Saint John Irving Nature Park with my sister and her husband.
They wanted to walk on the trails but my husband and I walked on the road thinking we could meet up somewhere along the way. We walked and walked - we heard voices but didn't see them. As we walked we noticed signs marking off the distance in kilometers.
Partway round we sat down on some steps for a few minutes and enjoyed the breathtaking views of the Bay of Fundy. Little did we know that once we got past a certain point we had to stay on the road until we came back to our original parking place. We had probably walked about 5 kilometers.
In less than a year since a knee replacement I was now able to walk 5 km. pain free! It was such a wonderful discovery; I later drove round an area nearer my home to measure the distance so that I could keep on walking 5 km several times a week.
