Hi, A Special Christmas For You All. December 14, 2012 |
Hi. Christmas - a time for reflection, thanks and caring.
This month let's focus on family and friends. Allow us to share our Christmas thoughts and welcome you to do the same. We're returning to Western Canada to spend time with our family this Christmas, and Skype'ing other family members and friends who we will not be able to visit during the holiday season. We look forward to reliving memories from the past. Traditional Christmas dinner followed by a walk as we retell stories shared and repeated over time. Our favourite uncle bringing gifts and surprises, grandpa and his antics and story-telling, and better still, an unexpected surprise visitor for an even more memorable Christmas dinner. It's wonderful to experience coming together and celebrating the holiday season with people dear to us. The Joy Of The Outdoors In Winter! Perhaps we'll be blessed with a white Christmas while we're visiting. For us, this time of year brings back vivid memories of winter outdoors activities, especially skiing on various ski hills and nearby cross country trails when we lived in the Kootenays of British Columbia.
Now, we'll look forward to our winter walking the most. I love to study the variety of neat snowflakes and icicles you see during this special time of year. To fully enjoy your winter experience, remember to pay attention to the different walking conditions - especially if you've not walked on slippery surfaces for awhile. You can take a quick refresher here on our Winter Walking Wonderland page. Have a wonderful, fulfilling and safe holiday season. May the new year bring many new friends and adventures as you walk towards greater fitness and health. Socks For Christmas by Yoko Remember the days when we used to receive and give socks for Christmas? It got pretty monotonous getting socks from everyone and giving socks for that last minute 'OOPS' gift, just to get it all done. Well things have changed - BIG TIME! Think of it this way. If you could give a gift of better foot health, better foot care, better foot comfort and a more enjoyable walking experience, wouldn't that make you feel really good? We understand that it may be hard to get all jazzed about these socks if you haven't experienced the padded socks from Thorlo yet. These socks designed specifically for healthier, more comfortable feet and superior walking experiences are made by very passionate and caring people. Add to this the fact that the folks at Thorlo are so proud of and confident in their work, they provide a money back guarantee that Thorlos Padded Socks are the most comfortable socks you've ever worn or your money back. FREE SHIPPING in the US. Our Thanksgiving Walk With Friends Here's a little story about one of our recent walks and why we enjoy it so much. Perhaps you can start something similar where you live and share with us all. After a recent morning yoga class, our class walked with friends to enjoy the harmonious spirit that we share whenever we meet. Along with the normal spectacular views, we discovered some interesting medicinal plants native to Ecuador and chatted about them as we walked. We came upon an old man making wallets and leather goods with ancient tools that may be generations old. And of course, always the ever present big smiles! We met many smiling people out for their walks, enjoying the warm November afternoon sunshine in Cotacachi. Here, everyone greets you with "Buenas Dias" or "Buenas Tardes". Even the dogs were out playfully greeting everyone as we passed a local children's playground. We eventually met up with others to have a wonderful traditional Thanksgiving dinner in a small restaurant that was totally packed as we all enjoyed the fine work of two great cooks. Giving thanks and being with friends after a day of walking and talking is tops with us! COMING SOON! Watch for this in our next newsletter! New Contest. FREE Prizes! For walkers making progress that seemed impossible. Look for details in January.
All the best, Your partners in walking, Yoko & Geoff
